Yesterday I was on Facebook and I read a story about Kevin the Wonder Kid.
I have known his foster Mom for years, but I did not know the whole story. I knew that she had a child who was ill, but I did not know she had chosen to be his foster mom when he was sick as a baby, and had continued to choose to be there for this child every day of his life.
Last year, she showed up at my store for coffee. She brought me a card and a small gift to thank me for being me. I was touched by her kindness and still had no idea about the woman she really was.
Yesterday, I read this story. This morning, I read her status update mentioning the mini van she really wants. I can imagine this mini van will make her life easier. Easier for her to care for her son, easier for her to take him to CHEO to get the support she needs to keep him healthy and alive.
I decided in that moment that I would help. She does not know yet, but I am enlisting every resource I have to help her raise $25,000 to buy this van.
I cannot do it alone, and I am touched by the number of people who have already messaged me to ask how they can be part of my kindness project. You can donate here. The only way I know how to do this quickly is to set up a payment via PayPal where you can donate what you can to help with this cause. I will be keeping a list of all the individuals who donate and I will be publishing their names and letting everyone know when we are ready to buy the van.
Thank you so much for donating and/or for just sharing this post. Let’s make this happen within the next 25 days!
Please note – the family has requested we remove the photo of Kevin to protect his privacy.
Please Donate Your Gift for them below
I have had a request for larger amounts from Corporate Organizations wishing to get involved so here is that option too:

Beautiful initiative Lisa, it’s so great to help someone we know and make Kim’s day a bit brighter. Kim, you’re a wonderful woman and you make us all proud to know you. I’m looking forward to seeing you & Kevin in your new van!

I think this is a wonderfull idea. I have known Kim and kevin for several years and think the world of them both. I am on a Disabillity penshion and am not well. I do not have 100 dollars. but I do have a jar of change ive been collecting. Would you accept that? Is there a way i can deliver it to you? Also how about a car wash or garage sale all money going to the van. Or any other ideas any one may have. Im able to do some manual labour. Not everyone has 100 dollars but there are other ways to raise money. Let me know what you think. Sincerley, Amy.

Thanks Amy, this is one of those times when the train just left the station and I did not really think things through, just wanted to get the ball rolling. I have updated the payment link so people can donate smaller and larger amounts (people asked me to do that too) and if it is easier people can mail a cheque to me at my business 775 Taylor Creek Drive, Ottawa, ON and make the cheque out to me care of Ultimate Kindness Project. If we set up other events, I will be sure to post here. Thanks for your comment.

This is a great cause, but perhaps you should let others whom are unable to donate $100 dollars at least be able to donate a smaller amount to help out.

Thanks James for the comment, I have updated the payment options for this.

Lisa, How much has been donated so far? Thanks for the great Community Thinking and offering! We can all do things to help. Just need to look around and broadcast it out like you did.

We are up to about $5500 right now and are talking to some larger events/organizations to also help us out! Please keep sharing and help us keep the momentum going!
